Perspective and find "Enough" through motherhood, nursing, traveling and watching the world

About

I’m Christen, a non-traditional Midwest woman, mental health nurse, mom to seven (three of my own, four steps—yes, it’s a circus!), and a traveler who’s explored 49 states and beyond. Welcome to lensofme.com, where I share life’s mess and magic through my unique perspective—a gift that helps me find contentment through both the good and hard days, whether I’m navigating hospital halls, parenting chaos, or capturing a sunset.

As a nurse, I’ve witnessed humanity’s highs and lows, collecting profound lessons from patient experiences—from the joy of a baby’s birth to holding a dying person’s hand. In those moments, I’ve come to understand human resilience and grace. As a mom and stepmom, I grow through my children’s gifts and challenges, cherishing moments that deepen my own growth. My journey with mental health—navigating Seasonal Affective Disorder, ADHD, and anxiety—fuels my advocacy to #stopthestigma, driving me to fight for better healthcare access for all.

Most days, I have more energy than I know what to do with, and I’m a hobby jumper. Some passions stick over the years—writing always tops the list. I’m always up for a good book—send me your recommendations! I’m sure nothing can compete with the ones my husband adds to my list, which often land in the “you really thought I’d enjoy this” category. I also enjoy a good crochet session and the occasional binge-worthy show—though that’s rare, when I find one, I watch until I can’t anymore!

Through travel, my worldview has expanded beyond what I thought possible. I’ve had deeply touching moments, from volunteer work trips in Nicaragua to experiencing a glimpse of the Middle East at a cultural center lunch. I also crave adventure—volcano boarding in Nicaragua, desert dune buggy trips in Dubai, and SCUBA diving whenever I can—discovering along the way that I am Enough, a mantra inked on my arm in my grandmother’s handwriting.

Here on lensofme.com, I invite you to explore stories that might shift your perspective, lend you strength, or remind you that you’re enough, just as you are. Let’s connect, share, and grow together.
